Negotiationsto bring Ashbourne’s first soap box race to the town centre could be finalised as soon as Easter, organisers say

A group of organisers has been meeting up regularly, planning logistics, as well as the route the gravity-powered vehicles will potentially take through the beautiful town of Ashbourne.

If no ‘hurdles’ are hit, the home made go karts could be racing through Ashbourne as soon as September 8th – how exciting!

We have lift off! Planning for the event is running smoothly

If the planned route ends up being the events finalised track, entrants could reach lofty speeds of 35pmh in the initial descent, with an estimated time of 49 seconds for the course being given.

Best of all, plans are being made to split the event into two categories, with one course being built for adults, and the second for younger racers over the age of 12.

The race organiser, Sean Clayton says there have already been a number of people registering to enter the event.
