We dined at The Horseshoes near Ashbourne and were blown away by the friendly staff, the delicious food and the stunning setting!
With 2019 well and truly here, its a good time to look for new places to eat at throughout Derbyshire, and we have found one to put on the of your list – The Horseshoes in Ashbourne.
The Horseshoes is an award-winning Gastropub nestled within the stunning Derbyshire countryside, which utilises locally sourced seasonal produce, as well as an extensive range of drinks and wine list, to deliver an ever-changing menu and dining experience to its customers.
The Horseshoes is an award winning Gastropub, which aims to be a ‘place to eat, drink and unwind’, and we think it succeeds in these aims! Its menu focuses on modern British Cuisine, and though we sampled the stunning meat options available, it makes sure to cater for all tastes, with a variety of vegetarian and vegan options available.

From the moment we came through the door, The Horseshoes’ staff made sure our visit was perfect, offering a selection of complimentary breads to start, and friendly service throughout our meal – the staff really couldn’t do enough for us!
Once ordered, we were really impressed by how promptly our food came, especially as a large party of diners was also being catered for at the same time.
All of our food was delightful, I particularly loved my smashed baby potatoes, though couldn’t resist ordering additional chips, which arrived as a generous portion both crispy golden and piping hot.

We cannot commend the staff highly enough – service was prompt, friendly and polite, enhancing the experience of the stunning food produced by Gareth Ward and his talented kitchen team.
It’s clear to see why Gareth is one of The Midlands top chefs! Though we were simply too full to fit in dessert (we will be sure to pace ourselves better next visit!) – the options available are mouth watering! From sticky toffee pudding to The Horseshoes famous 7 cheeses cheeseboard, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
