Organisers are hugely excited about the event
Excitement is building in Chaddesden ahead of its first ever Christmas street market.
Thousands of people are set to descend on Chaddesden Lane this Sunday (December 1) for an afternoon of festive cheer and plenty of shopping.
The event will take place between 2pm and 6pm on the main route between the Steamin Billy Wilmot Arms pub and the Chaddesden Jubilee Club.
It has been organised by the Chaddesden Traders Association – a group set up by business owners in the area to with the aim of promoting the Chaddesden area and increasing community spirit.
Planning started earlier this year following the success of a market held last year in The Wilmot Arms Steamin’ Billy pub in Morley Road.
One year on, Chaddesden is set for its biggest Christmas celebration in history by having a street market.
Dozens of stalls selling food, drink and Christmas gifts will be on show out on the street and inside the nearby Chaddesden Jubilee Club.
There will also be live Christmas entertainment throughout and a special visit from Santa Claus himself.
Josie Davis, one of the founders of the Chaddesden Traders Association, said: “Everyone can’t wait for the event – there is such a buzz surrounding it at the moment.
“There are people coming to me saying how excited they are, which has been great to hear.
“We had about 1,500 people come last year to the Christmas Market and this event will be much bigger so we are expecting thousands to come along.”
A raffle draw will also be held with many prizes up for grabs including a three course lunch for two at Morley Hayes, Derby County tickets, membership at Orange Theory Fitness and Gullivers Kingdom tickets.
