Bread rolls, cream cakes and hot savouries will all be available
As if Christmas wasn’t sweet enough, four of Derbyshire’s Birds bakeries will be open on Sundays ahead of the big day.
The full selection of cream cakes, bread, bread rolls and sausage rolls will be available from the firm’s stores in Iron Gate, Albert Street, Sinfin and Ashbourne over the next two Sundays.
They will be open from 10am and 4pm on Sunday, December 15, and Sunday, December 22.
Birds sales and marketing director Mike Holling said: “Customers have asked us to do it and we think it is the right thing to do have them open in the build-up to Christmas.
“This is the first time our full production and range will be operational at some of our stores on Sundays. We have opened with a limited service before, but never the full range at these stores.
“Even though we’re opening on these extra days, I think we’ll still be as busy on Christmas Eve. Our customers are very loyal and support us every year.”
Last Christmas Eve, hundreds of shoppers queued up outside Birds stores across the city to pick up their breads rolls and pork pies for the big day.
