Father’s Day is coming up on the 16th of June. It’s not always the easiest to think of a present. “What do you want for Father’s Day?” “Nothing.” How about thinking outside the box and going to an event together instead?
1. Father’s Day Kite Flying – Calke Abbey
Date and time: Sunday the 16th, 10:00 am until 16:00 pm.
Price: Free apart from admission.
This annual event will even be attended by the Midland Kite Fliers, ready to showcase their kite flying skills. You’re welcome to bring your own kite, buy or borrow one at Calke Abbey, or how about making one in their workshop.
2. Arkwright’s Artisan Market – Cromford
Date and time: Sunday 16th of June, 10:00 am until 16:00 pm.
Price: Free admission.
This regular market has been growing every month with a huge range of Derbyshire based traders. Recent additions include The Whoopie Pie Company (Mmm!) and Ooh La Laa (Another mmm!). You can find out more about all the fantastic traders here.

3. Children’s Army Style Assault Course– Matlock Farm Park
Date and time: Sunday 16th of June – 10:00 am till 16:30 pm.
Prices: Adults – £9.00. Children 2 to 14 – £8.00. Under 2’s – Free.
Danny ,the Ex-Queens Guards Soldier, stays with the children every step of the way through this assault course. Afterwards, why not treat yourself to a Father’s Day Sunday lunch? You can find the ever so tasty sounding menu here.
4. The Rotary Cromford Car and Bike Show
Date and time: Sunday 16th of June. 10:00 am til 4:00am.
Price: £5 per ticket.
Held in the beautiful Cromford Meadows, all proceeds from this event go to the Rugby Club and local charities. Free parking is available and last year there were an incredible 350 cars, not to mention 30 stalls and a BBQ too.
